Unicorn England Starburst Ceramic Trough Dish

Unicorn England Starburst Ceramic Trough Dish

Off-white ceramic trough dish made in England by Unicorn Pottery, impressed on the base with the mark “460 UNICORN MADE IN ENGLAND”.

The elegant canoe-shaped sculptural form and raised starburst pattern give this piece a distinctly mid-century modern feel. It works beautifully as a display dish on a shelf or coffee table, or for holding keys, jewellery, or small objects.

Produced in England during the mid-century period, most likely in the late 1950s or early 1960s, Unicorn ceramics were widely exported throughout the Commonwealth and are now appreciated for their sculptural shapes and simple modernist decoration.

Condition: Overall good vintage condition. Light crazing and some minor discolouration consistent with age. One very small black mark on one side as shown in photos. No cracks or structural damage noted.

Size:
Length: 22cm
Height: 6cm
Width: 8cm

This piece forms part of our Mid-Century Ceramics Curated Collection, featuring a considered selection of European and studio ceramic design from the mid-20th century, spanning the 1940s through to the late 1970s.
